Since there were some friendly words for my last video, I was motivated to make a new one. So here it is, my third LFS Video.
The video is simply about driving the BMW Sauber F1 without having the traction control activated. The video is devided in two parts, with part one standing for raw and fast onboard-action, while part 2 is more like an analysis of the driving, using close-camera slow-motion shots.
Yes, he's the greatest of all times for me.
Also I always liked:
James Iha, he made some incredible guitar solos for the smashing pumpkins.
And the edge from U2, just for his guitar solo in "The Fly"
I think at least VLC should be able to play Theora videos, even without the codec.
The only thing i can imagine is that the video file got corrupted during the upload/download. Can you give me the sha1sum of the video file? You can find the sha1sum tool here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sha1sum, if you look under "External Links" theres a Windows version of the tool.
If you never used sha1sum before:
-Copy the sha1sum.exe into the same folder where the video file is.
-Open a dos box and navigate to the directory where both files are located.
-Type "sha1sum.exe bad_driving_inc.ogg"
After a while it will output a string, which should be exactly:
0e14b8bb525c47e072de28c6dcf3f65148cc21f6
If the string you get shows any difference, then something went wrong during the download.
Edit:
The songs name is "Drink a pint of blood a day". The band is called Milhaven, they release all their music for free on the internet.
Thats strange, the codec worked fine for me with Windows Media Player 9, not even a reboot was required. Which video player(s) did you try?
Well maybe it was not such a great idea to use Theora, which is still a "work in progress" codec. I'll make another HQ upload using the XVid Codec (this will take a little while though)
Yes, I think all of this happened on the CTRA servers. And there was enough footage in the MPRs to make this video 20 minutes long. Sometimes there's just a very bad attitude on their servers :ouch:
I cleaned up my MPRs lately, but before deleting them, I decided to capture the interesting stuff from all the replays to make a video out of it. The resulting video consists of many crashes and accidents, but there are also some scenes which I thought are funny or show good driving.
I got it working somehow, the AF options in LFS now show full effect. But i dont exactly know why.
The only thing i did was to play around with the AF settings in the Nvidia driver:
First I forced 16x AF in the Live For Speed profile (just like i had it before Y13 came out).
Then i set AF to "Application Controlled" in the Live For Speed Profile. Not "(Global Setting) Application Controlled", just "Appilcation Controlled", so it appears in bold letters.
With this settings i started LFS again, and the ingame AF options worked correctly.
If you look at the cars available in S2, the XRT didn't really make sense in the demo anymore. Now with patch Y the demo has the slowest FWD, the slowest RWD and the slowest single seater to try out. imo this was the right decision , because the demo now shows more what LFS is capable of.
If you're interested in Linux it's a good idea to try one of the Linux Live-CDs first. They work without any installation, you run Linux from a CD (or an USB-Stick) without any changes to your existing system.
Tried to make a movie with some good slow-mo scenes, but in the moment i saw the final cut i realised it was crap. However there was already too much work in it, so here it is:
Some might notice a slight difference in the engine sounds, this is because i couldn't record sound effects from LFS, so instead i recorded and mixed them from a game which offers sound effects in a similar quality as LFS.
+ don't work or play with your administrator account, create and use a user account with restricted rights. This will make your system immune against a lot of viruses out there.
An update of the FF effects in LFS would be great. The FF feels so slow, mostly because the general steering resistance is too high, making very fast movements (and especially countersteering) with the wheel impossible.
Best FF effects for me (by far) are in Richard Burns Rally, it just feels as it should, gives an excellent feedback of the state of the wheels and the car, and doesn't hinder you in fast movements or countersteering.
Another strange thing with the FF in LFS is that while the car is standing, you can move the wheel without effort, but once the car starts rolling the steering resistance raises, but this should be the complete opposite way
I'd like to see this feature too, but without the presets. I like the idea that the vote-starter has to write down what happened, this gives him time to cool down and reconsider the situation, since kick/ban-votes can be a result of overreaction.
